Kalidou Koulibaly’s Transfer Stance Is Revealed With Chelsea “Very Likely” To Make Move For 34M Rated Defender

Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is hoping to renew his contract with the Serie A club, despite interest from the likes of Chelsea, according to Alfredo Pedulla.

The Italian journalist claims that the 31-year-old is keen to extend his current deal beyond the end of next season, even though he is being pursued by other teams:

“Koulibaly continues to prioritise Napoli, to try to reach a renewal for the contract. The club are willing to make an exception for him with respect to the salary ceiling set at €3m for the other players.

To find an agreement, an offer is needed. from €6m: the next few days will be decisive for the future of the Senegalese, Napoli, and the transfer market of other clubs such as Chelsea.”

Pedulla also makes the claim that Chelsea will make a move for Koulibaly, as the Senegalese international is deemed a cheaper option than the other targets they have identified:

“It is very likely that Chelsea will come and get him, because the Blues’ alternatives cost too much: I am referring to Skriniar and De Ligt, who have even higher valuations.”

Reports suggest that €40m (£34m) will be enough to tempt Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis into selling up, but the Blues are still exploring other options at the moment.

It is believed that talks have resumed to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus, and there is always the possibility that the club will look to revive their longstanding interest in Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.

It is a very fluid situation so we shall see who Chelsea will end up going for.
