Chelsea’s £34m agreement to sign new world class defender ‘not far away’

Chelsea look like they are close to securing the signing of a new world class defender who will more than do the job of replacing Antonio Rudiger this summer.

In fact, for me, Kalidou Koulibaly is a BETTER player than Rudiger and will be much more than just a replacement, he will be an improvement.

Let’s hope Chelsea can get this over the line now, and it does seem close as source after source start to report it with their version of events this afternoon.

The one thing that is clear is that they are all saying that a deal is close now. Chelsea are trying to sign the Napoli defender for around £34m, a fee that sounds just too good to be true.

The Guardian have the full report typed up by the reliable Jacob Steinbrug, and he says that despite Napoli offering the Senegal international a new contract, Chelsea will offer him more.
